Pinspiration // Maxi Skirts

With Summer quickly approaching, I've been trying to find things to wear to keep me cool. If you know me, you'd know how much I hate being hot! I'm more of a 'wrap myself in blankets and sweaters' girl than a tank top and shorts girl. Summer outfits are pretty cute though, so I might as well make the most of it! Last Summer, I bought 4 maxi skirts! I have a pink one, black one, beige and navy striped one, and a black and white chevron skirt. My only problem is trying to figure out how to style them, so of course I turned to Pinterest.

I totally have a yellow cardigan to go with this chevron maxi!

I've seen so many cute and stylish ways to wear my maxi skirts now. I think I need to add some statement necklaces and a larger variety of colors of my v-neck shirts.

Pinterest BBQ Ideas

Oh my gosh, you guys. Can you believe it'll have been a whole year of marriage for us on June 16? It's crazy how fast it's gone! In celebration, we're totally planning a huge BBQ at my dad's place for all of our family and friends. Unfortunately, our actual anniversary is on a Monday, so we're hosting the BBQ on Saturday June 14. I have been browsing Pinterest like crazy, coming up with ideas. I'll be sure to post pictures of everything after the BBQ, but for now, here's what I'm thinking:

A polaroid-style photo booth prop! Hung up by some string so that my guests can use some props!

Some super yummy non-alcoholic punch!

Mason jars will definitely have a big part!

With it being a potluck, we'll need some of these to label everything ;)

And of course, the traditional gingham table cloth and twine! 

I am beyond excited for the party! Our only thing is that June is such a toss up for rain here. It'll either be pouring rain, or be super sunny. Let's hope for sun!

Pinterest Finds + An Update

So, there really isn't "Pinterest Sunday" anymore, as Sundays were usually taken up by my new job. That's changing because of a few really stupid things that I really shouldn't go in to on the internet for fear of those people in higher power finding this blog, but I've got time today!

Tomorrow, I'm going with 3 of my bridesmaids to New Westminister (which I have to take the Sky Train to get to) (and I don't want to because they've found 2 pipe bombs on the tracks in the past 2 weeks) to go and find their dresses! The wedding is now less than 8 months away, people! It's almost serious crunch time. Serious crunch time will happen a couple times over the next couple months, so right now isn't THAT serious. I plan on documenting our adventure tomorrow :)

After I'm done searching for bridesmaid dresses, I've got an appointment at the Chateau Cargill in Surrey, to check out their rooms for a ceremony and a reception. I know what you're thinking! ("HOLD UP! Didn't you say you're getting married at a campground?!") Yes, we did. We thought about it, calculated it, thought about it some more, and realized that getting married at the campground will just be extra planning and extra money to find everything we need, and to rent everything we need. I'm already stressed out enough as it is. This Chateau comes with everything, like tables and a microphone. The Chateau is also a LOT cheaper in the grand scheme of things. 

The only thing that happens if we book the Chateau is that our wedding date will have to move from June 15 to June 16. They've booked the Saturday already and getting married on the Sunday there is a whole $700 cheaper (there's no question). It looks like a castle on the outside, so bonus on the pictures!

So now my brain is all scattered with different decorating ideas, but I'm still going to try and go with the same rustic theme. But here's a bunch of scattered ideas for you!

Pinterest Sunday

This week's post is all about the cake stands, as we just put the deposit down on our cake! I found some good ideas for the stands (and they're basically all the same) that tie in to the rustic/nature/campground theme of our wedding. 

I really like the fact that they're just stumps!

I love the moss on the bottom, it really adds to the idea of a tree stump for a cake stand.

I've requested that my sister make her amazing vegan cupcakes, so this is a must!

This is one of my favorites. Less chance of the stand falling apart ;)

My future step-dad-in-law (haha) has agreed to help me make the stand. Now all I need to do is actually come to a decision about how I want it. I think the best bet will be the last one, as there really is less chance of the stand falling apart in case the glue was old or something.

Pinterest Sunday

So apparently the new layout doesn't look good on bigger monitors. I'm hoping to have it fixed soon, but in the meantime, it looks how it should on most of my friend's and family's monitors. I'm in no big rush to fix it.

Most recently, I've been thinking about whether or not I should have a cocktail dress to dance in during the reception. My dress was very expensive, so it would probably be a huge waste if I only wore it for the ceremony and the pictures. The back of my dress pins up so that it won't be stepped on, so maybe I won't need a reception dress. In the meantime, I'm enjoying looking at all the cute white cocktail dresses that have been floating around Pinterest.

I wonder if I could also wear one of these beautiful dresses for my bachelorette party? Also, I'm trying to figure out the proper dimensions for each photo so they look a little blurry right now.

Pinterest Sunday

I was at a wedding last night and I saw their lovely gift table! They had a little wicker basket for cards on the gift table and my mind started racing about what sort of things we could use for a card holder at ours. Since being home I've done laundry, bought cat food, organized my new employee handbook, browsed my favourite blogs, and browsed through Pinterest. As my internet keeps cutting in and out every 30 seconds, I think it's best that I keep this short and sweet.

Pinterest Sunday

First and foremost, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the most wonderful mom any girl could ask for! We've been through quite a bit and you're still the strongest woman I know. I love you more and more everyday, xo.

Muahaha back again! I missed last week's Pinterest Sunday as I was just busy. But this week is back in full swing. Since our wedding is outside at a campground and in two different areas of the campground, I know we're going to need signs! I've found so many of those rustic wooden ones and some funny ones. That last one is totally Rob and I. I am definitely wanting some signs and there will be balloons in our wedding colors around some of the signs. I enjoy the ones that have humor in them like the first and last ones. I've come to the realization that there are so many little things that make a wedding great! There are also so many things that I haven't thought about until someone brings it up to me, or I see it on a social networking site. At the end of the day, as long as Rob and I are married, then everything has gone according to plan (I know, so cliche.)

Pinterest Monday?

Apparently I have an issue of keeping Pinterest Sunday on time! Yesterday Rob, his clients, and I ventured down to the Cloverdale fairgrounds and browsed the free concerts and the booths. It was pretty muggy out and then it got really cold, and then the sun came out! It turned out to be a nice day for Canada Day!

It was pretty muddy and we couldn't get the wheelchairs through very well. It got so frustrating when people would just stand on the sidewalk or cut off our friends in the wheelchairs. How rude can people be?

Anywho, on to my Pinterest finds! I've been thinking about my bridesmaids a lot and wondering what they'll wear! I am torn between the colors and length of the dresses. We're outside at a campground, but my MOH, Analise, tried on a long one and it was just gorgeous! Decisions, decisions, decisions! I know I definitely want every bridesmaid in a different style of dress, as they all have different body types. I'm also torn between which pastel colors I want them to wear. All different, all the same, all different except for Analise?

Do you see what I mean by decisions now? So hard! I'm looking forward to seeing all of my lovely friends in their gorgeous dresses! 

Rob has also started making the playlist, as we're not going to spring for a DJ. It's a lot cheaper to just rent some speakers and a microphone or two, and just have one of our friends run the iPod. In the invites, or on our upcoming wedding website, we're planning on putting a line for a song request. Makes it easier on us and  let's people get excited when their requested song comes up.

My dad texted me last night saying that him and his girlfriend are coming to British Columbia from Alberta from September 15-23rd! I'm so excited!
